Description
It is a spice (not to be confused with common nutmeg flower) derived from aril (Latin – aarillys “aril”, “mantle”). It is the funicle projection surrounding the seed, but not growing with it. It has been used as a spice since Roman times for flavoring of milk-based sauces.
