Lactic acid
Item No.
Z 753
Description
Lactic acid, lactic acid bacteriaLactic acid, also known as 2-hydroxypropionic acid, plays a part in the natural moisturising system and the protective acid mantle of the skin and as such regulates the physiological pH value and the bacterial colonisation of the skin. When used in cosmetics, lactic acid regulates epidermal cornification and has a very slight peeling effect. The horny layer of the skin becomes thinner and more flexible, and this is particularly desirable in the treatment of blemished skin, acne, psoriasis and cornification disorders. Apart from that, lactic acid has a hydrating effect and regulates the pH value, thereby inhibiting the growth of microorganisms that are foreign to the skin.
