Description
These are the dried unripe fruit of an evergreen tropical tree pimenta, containing up to 4% of essential oil. It is added to meat dishes, especially lamb, in canned vegetables and vegetable soups, spinach, fish, sauces for venison and jelly. The piment oil, which is contained in the fruits of Jamaican pepper, has a stimulating, carminative and improving digestion; it improves the taste of many drugs.
Usage description
It is used as a spice.
