Description
(Rosa canina L.), rosaceae family. The fruits are used. Fruit pulp contains ascorbic acid (vitamin C), riboflavin (vitamin B2), beta-carotene (provitamin A), phylloquinone (vitamin K) and bioflavonoid (vitamin P), and tocopherol seeds (vitamin E), carotene and fatty oil. Content of ascorbic acid makes up 2.46-5.20% of their absolutely dry weight or 3.22-10.84% of their absolutely dry weight. Pulp averagely contains 9.74 mg% carotene, 14.1% pectin, 1.58% citric acid, 23.93% total sugars, 18.56%invert sugars, 5.09% sucrose, 8.92% pentosans. About 4% of P group vitamins (dry weight), including flavonoids -quercetin, kaempferol, isoquercitrit and etc., was detected in fresh fruits. Syrups and fruit jellies are made of them. It is used for colds, as well as for immune system stimulation. It is included into the composition of Timusan.
