Choline is a trace element with an alcohol base. In the past it was also called "vitamin B4". It is very similar to the vitamins in the B group, but today only the new name is generally used. The importance and significance of choline was only recognised and identified quite recently by nutritional scientists. Today we know that choline plays an essential role in the growth of neural pathways and in the metabolising of fat. Choline is absolutely essential for the proper functioning of many body functions.
